Paver Retaining Walls
There is not a lot of demand for paver retaining walls or paver walls, and I have to say “they work great”. I’ve been in the construction business for over two decades and I’m used to work with any type of stone when it comes to build retaining walls and your every day wall, but paver retaining walls are a new way to build your wall project and there are great advantages!
Paver retaining walls are great to highlight your garden, high garden, patios, etc. They add great aesthetic appeal to your construction project, and they as great as any stone to help you manage storm water by draining possibly even better than stones.
If you don’t recognize the difference between a paver wall and a paver retaining wall, I’ll try to explain it to you as plain as possible. A wall is pretty much to add a beautiful design to your landscape, garden, etc.
While a retaining wall, is a wall that helps you support mud slides, rock slides, or a bank of dirt if you live with a hill on your backyard. The retaining wall needs to be really strong and able to support a lot of weight without pinning to the sides or front. You can build great retaining walls from pavers too.
Pavers are great materials to build any type of walls because they offer flexibility, great color choices, and different designs that can help you highlight your project. A regular wall can be as short as 6 inches if you use pavers, and as tall as 4 feet without worrying about construction law inspections. Paver retaining walls can also be as high as 4 feet, but is better if you call a professional to take a look at your project and help you decide what’s better for you.
If you need to build a retaining wall over 4 feet high you’re going to need a permit. There’s this question that people always ask me: If I want to build a wall with pavers, is it possible to have curves in it? The answer is pretty simple: yes, it’s possible. As I told you before, pavers are a very flexible material and they work great for any construction project with curves, so you don’t have to worry about pavers and curves, it’s possible to have both features in your wall, or retaining wall.
